Step 2 — Create your volunteer account
Set up your Serve Local portal account. This is where you'll track your hours, complete your checklist, and manage your volunteer profile. Takes less than 2 minutes.
Ministry Safe is a required online training for all volunteers working with children or youth. It takes about 60 minutes and can be completed at your own pace from any device.
A quick, secure background check is required for all approved volunteers. Checkr is FCRA-compliant and most results come back within 24–72 hours. There is no cost to you.
Once your background check clears, your account is upgraded to Approved status. You'll get an email and can immediately sign up for opportunities across DFW.
